Most-decorated Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps, has much more to celebrate than his most recent gold medal win (bringing his total career medal count to nineteen). Amidst the screaming fans, Phelp’s fiancée, Nicole Johnson and their three-month-old son Boomer, cheered on the father and-soon-to-be husband as the games kicked off in Rio.
Johnson, a former Miss California Pageant Winner and Media & Communications major who helps manage marketing for the Michael Phelps Foundation, is having a blast in Rio, Instagramming their time watching Phelps make his fifth return to the Olympics. The pair met in 2007 and have been dating for five years, including the time Phelps spent in rehab after a DUI.
Phelps proposed to Johnson in February 2015, no doubt Johnson’s “accredited jewelry professional” status through the Gemological Institute of America helped them find the perfect ring, and the young couple celebrated the birth of their first child on May 5, 2016. Johnson has been tweeting her support for her husband since the olympic trials this year, and has kept the excitement going on her feed.
Johnson also makes sure to include shots of Boomer cheering on his dad too, who has become a more frequent site on Instagram over Johnson’s beloved French Bulldog, Ms Juno.
