Melanie Martin mourned her late on-and-off fiancé, Aaron Carter, on TikTok.
To express her grief following Aaron’s tragic passing, she shared a two-second clip of herself sobbing while in the driver’s seat.
(TikTok added a disclaimer, “Participating in this activity could result in you or others getting hurt.”)
Melanie also posted an old video of Aaron showing off some dance moves during a light-hearted TikTok live. “Forever posting,” she captioned the tribute.
The on-and-off lovers share an 11-month-old son, Prince.
Melanie and Aaron first announced their engagement back in June 2020. The singer shared the news via Instagram with a close-up photo of the engagement ring on Martin’s hand.
“Lövē wins ❤️😍💍” Aaron captioned the announcement. He added the hashtags #iloveyou3000, #engaged, #fiance and #ourlovestory for good measure. “My future Mrs. Carter Melanie 🖤.”
Aaron was a teen pop star in the ’90s, and the younger brother of Backstreet Boys singer, Nick Carter.
He was found deceased on Nov. 5 in his Lancaster, California home. He was 34.
Authorities have not yet revealed a cause of death.
Nick addressed his brother’s passing in a Sunday Instagram post. “My heart has been broken today,” he wrote. “Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held onto the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.”
In 2017, Aaron was arrested for a DUI and marijuana charges. Two years later, he opened up about his struggles with manic depression, multiple personality disorder and acute anxiety.
“Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here,” Nick continued. “I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know.”
