Mel B, aka Melanie Brown, was ordered to pay her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte $140,000 in legal fees and $40,000 per month in spousal support, despite her accusations of domestic abuse.

MEL B ORDERED TO PAY EX $40K PER MONTH IN SPOUSAL SUPPORT

The former Spice Girl was granted a restraining order against Belafonte earlier this year after describing multiple instances of physical assault and blackmail. The judge ruled that Brown is still obligated to pay the spousal support until an evidentiary hearing can be held in September, in which Brown can attempt to prove her claims of abuse and Belafonte can defend himself.

“It’s a shame that Ms. Brown elected not to proceed in a respectful and amicable fashion in this very private matter,” wrote Belafonte’s lawyers in a statement. “In due course, Mr. Belafonte will be filing his response to the outrageous and unfounded allegations made by Ms. Brown, which allegations he vehemently denies.”

The court documents also go into detail about the estranged couple’s financial affairs, with Judge Lawrence Riff saying the pair had lived “beyond their means” and had a “habitual inability” to pay their taxes on time. The documents include proof of spending $20,000 on childcare, $4,493 on eating out, and $5,000 on groceries each month, with Riff declaring the amounts not “credible or reasonable.” Belafonte also admitted to spending $2,000 a month on clothing and $3,000 on “entertainment, gifts, and vacation.”

Belafonte was forced out of the couple’s $8.9 million home after the domestic abuse allegations surfaced, but Brown admits she and her children don’t live their either. “
