Meghan Markle’s Estranged Father Thomas Markle Accuses Daughter Of “Ghosting” Him

On Monday, Meghan Markle‘s estranged father Thomas Markle, publicly called on the royal family to help reconcile his relationship with his daughter.

In the 18-minute interview on Good Morning Britain (GMB), the Duchess of Sussex’s father told Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid that Markle had “ghosted” him, but that he wasn’t “sure why it was happening.” “I’ve been trying to reach out to her for several weeks. Every day I try to text her. I just haven’t received any comment back” he said.

During the interview, Thomas also addressed Markle directly, in the hopes that she would be watching and consider hearing him out. “I love you very much. You’re my daughter and I’d really like to hear from you,” he said. “Whatever differences we have, we should be able to work them out. We’re family, so please reach out to me.” He also expressed his wishes for the Queen to step in and do whatever she can to help rebuild their relationship. “I would appreciate anything she can do and I would think she would want to resolve family problems. All families, royal or otherwise, are the same and should be together, certainly around the holidays,” he said.

According to the 74-year-old former TV lighting director, he and his daughter had fallen out in the buildup to her wedding to Prince Harry last May, which, he didn’t attend due to heart surgery.

As Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child in the spring, Thomas remains “hopeful” about meeting his grandchild. “I’m certainly hoping that everything goes well, and they produce a beautiful baby and I’ll get to see a little Meghan or little Harry,” he said.

“That would be very nice and I look forward to that happening. I’m hopeful. I think it should happen. I think she’ll make a great mom and maybe things will soften a little bit and we’ll connect again,” he continued. “There has to be a place for me. I’m her father, and I will be the grandfather to the children — so all I can say is that I’m here, she knows it. I’ve reached out to her and I need her to reach back to me. I love her very much.”

In recent weeks, Markle has made headlines over her relationship with royal staff. According to Thomas, who came to her defense, Markle has “always been very controlling, but she’s never been rude… she’s always been polite.”
