Kensington Palace issued a rare statement this week in response to speculation about a feud between Duchesses Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle

A spokesperson for the palace denied the existence of such a rift between the two women, saying one specific incident that British news outlet The Sun reported “never happened.”

The Sun alleged Middleton and Markle had an “explosive row” in May, just days before the latter’s wedding to Prince Harry.

The publication went on to claim Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, told Duchess of Sussex Markle that she was out of line by berating members of the former’s staff and told Markle, “that’s unacceptable, they’re my staff and I speak to them.”

Other news outlets and tabloids also claimed that this alleged feud had also sparked tension between Harry and his brother, Prince William.

The Daily Mail also recently reported that Markle allegedly asked for air fresheners to be sprayed in St. George’s Chapel ahead of her wedding in May, and that this bothered some staffers at Buckingham Palace.

Kensington Palace also recently announced Markle and Prince Harry would move out and relocate to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, England, as they prepare for the birth of their first child this coming spring.

Meanwhile, a fan-uploaded video of Middleton saying that she is “absolutely” excited about Markle’s pregnancy suggests the alleged feud between the two royal women may not be as intense as it was made out to be.

According to Elle, one source told Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl last week that “Kate and Meghan are very different people and they don’t have a lot in common but they have made an effort to get along,” and added, “Any issues are between the brothers.”

According to People, the two women will spend Christmas together amid all the feud rumors.
