Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Announce Spotify Podcast Series
Under their new production company, Archewell Audio, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have announced the launching of several new podcasts. The Prince and Duchess have signed an agreement with Spotify to create original content, some of which they will host.
According to Variety, the royal couple aims to “build community through shared experience, narratives, and values” via their self-produced audio series. The first episode will debut in 2021, with a holiday special regarding “stories of hope and compassion.”
“What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take a moment and to really listen, to connect to one another without distraction,” Harry told the publication. “With the challenges of 2020, there has never been a more important time to do so, because when we hear each other, and hear each other’s stories, we are reminded of how interconnected we all are.”
This will not be the royal couple’s only media venture as a similar deal was made with Netflix. The couple stated that Netflix’s “unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action.” The move marked the first high-profile action since distancing themselves from the Royal family last year.
