Megan Fox might be one of the stars of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but that doesn’t mean the lead actress has only nice things to say about the blockbuster that will soon be heading to theaters.
In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fox plays journalist April O’Neil, who stumbles on the potentially major story of the four large, crime-fighting young turtles. Fox feels that the final cut of the movie left off the more inspiring parts of her role in the action flick.
“There was a lot of girl power that ended up on the cutting room floor, unfortunately,” Fox told HitFix. “I had a really awesome scene where I was fighting The Foot Clan, but I think they were like, 'Why would a tiny journalist be able to kick so much ass?'”
Fox added, “But I have a moment, Shredder and I have a moment. Maybe it's badass, you tell me when you see it."
In general, Fox thinks that the April she portrays is "a little less angsty, not darker, but a little less happy-go-lucky, super-sweet damsel in distress,” however she’s underestimated, which Fox implied is a situation she knows all too well.
“[April] is an ambitious journalist that's not making it the way that she wants to be because people underestimate her," said Fox, who revealed her character is stuck writing fluff pieces instead of the meatier stuff. “I couldn’t possibly relate to that,” Fox added sarcastically.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits theaters Aug. 8, 2014.
