The first trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey, starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, was released Friday morning.
In the two-and-a-half minute look at the film adaptation of E.L. James’ erotic novel, college student Anastasia Steele (Johnson) meets the young but high-powered businessman Christian Grey (Dornan). Although their first encounter in his corporate office seems innocent enough, things will be heading in another direction soon enough.
As occurs in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, Christian, an unabashed fan of S&M, entices Ana to become his kept, submissive woman. He makes it plain in the trailer that sex – not romance – is his thing. Christian also has no trouble spending his money on the young Ana, whisking her away in his helicopter and into his “Red Room.”
The trailer is set to an exclusive version of Beyonce's "Crazy in Love."
Charlie Hunnam, who was initially cast to play Christian in Sam Taylor Johnson's Fifty Shades of Grey films, recently admitted that had his scheduling not come into play, he would have loved to have played the dominant character and is still eager to see how it translates on the screen.
"I'm just really excited to see it. I was just really, really invested and wanted to work with Sam and play that character. I'm really, really curious," Hunnam said at a Television Critics Association Conference. The Sons of Anarchy actor also dismissed those who called James' trilogy "mommy porn," stating his belief that what she created was "a really sophisticated dynamic."
Fifty Shades of Grey will hit theaters Feb. 13 for Valentine's Day weekend.
