Maya Rudolph returned to Saturday Night Live to celebrate the sketch comedy show’s 40th anniversary on Sunday night, performing her famous Beyoncé impression.
Rudolph, who joined the cast of SNL in 2000 and has become one of the show’s most beloved alums, has previously done her impression of Beyoncé on Saturday Night Live, and brought it back for the special SNL 40. Rudolph stomped on the stage in full Beyoncé getup alongside Martin Short. The duo sang a tribute to some of SNL’s most beloved musical impressions and sketches before welcoming famous acts – like “Garth and Kat” (Fred Armisen and Kristin Wiig) and “Opera Man” (Adam Sandler).
As Beyoncé, Rudolph performed her SNL-inspired take on Beyoncé’s hit song “Drunk in Love,” and cracked jokes like, “Yeah he’s pretty good, but my friend Kanye says I’m better.”
