Matthew Perry’s Mom Says His Death Seemed ‘Inevitable:’ ‘He Felt It Very Strongly’
Matthew Perry’s mother, Suzanne Morrison, shared final memories with her son before she knew what was to come in a new interview.
Alongside her husband Keith, Morrison remembered a particular conversation she and Perry shared before his death when he was showing her “one of his new houses.”
“He came up to me and said, ‘I love you so much and I’m so happy to be with you now.’”
Morrison remembered, “It was almost as though it was a premonition of something. I didn’t think about it at the time but I thought, ‘How long has it been since we’ve had a conversation like that. It’s been years.’”
She continued, “I think there was something… there was an inevitability to what was going to happen next to him, and he felt it very strongly…but he said, ‘I’m not frightened anymore,’ And it worried me.”
Perry died of an overdose on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54. He was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home. An autopsy revealed that he died from “acute effects of ketamine” and suggested that the ketamine usage resulted in Perry’s going unconscious, and his existing coronary artery disease exacerbated the drug’s effects on his heart.

A formal investigation was launched several months after Perry’s passing, and in August, five people were arrested on charges in connection to the star’s death.
Among those arrested were two medical doctors, Dr. Mark Chavez and Dr. Salvador Plasencia, as well as Perry’s live-in assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, broker Erik Fleming and drug supplier Jasveen Sangha, known by the name “The Ketamine Queen.” Iwamasa, Fleming and Chavez have pleaded guilty to the various charges.
