Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter films, shocked J.K. Rowling with his new shirtless underwear spread for the gay magazine Attitude.
Rowling has known Lewis – like Danielle Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint – since he was a child. In the film adaptation of her bestselling novels, Lewis played the slightly pudgy, entirely uncoordinated and often hapless Neville. Seeing his half-naked body in a pair of revealing briefs was quite the shock for the author, who’d previously seen Radcliffe fully in the buff in his Broadway debut in Equus.
After seeing the pictures, Rowling took to Twitter to scold Lewis for not warning her about the nearly-nude photoshoot.
In response, Lewis offered an apology.
This time, Rowling is going to let Lewis off the hook, but she advised him to get his shirt and pants back on.
Lewis, who stars on TV series Bluestone 42, recently landed a big film role in Me Before You alongside Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clark and The Hunger Games‘ Sam Caflin.
