Amy Adams presented the award for Best Actor In A Motion Picture – Comedy with the award going to Matt Damon for his role in The Martian. The other nominees were Christian Bale and Steve Carell for The Big Short, Al Pacino for Danny Collins and Mark Ruffalo for Infinitely Polar Bear.

“Thanks to table 10, right over there,” Damon, 45,  told the crowd. “I would like to — my kids are watching, so I have to thank my kids, because I told them if I got on TV, I’d definitely say something to them. So, get ready to go to bed. But my wife, thank you, Lucy, for everything.”

He added: “Look, I was here 18 years ago, it has literally been 18 years since I have been here, doing this, and with a little more context, I know how lucky I am and how lucky I am to do this for a living.”

Damon also thanked the crew and the cast of the movie.
