Marissa Jaret Winokur, the longtime star of Broadway’s Hairspray, co-starrs in Cathryn Michon‘s new comedy feature Muffin Top: A Love Story.

Muffin Top Rant

Muffin Top: A Love Story follows Michon’s character, Women’s Studies Pop Culture professor Suzanne, who, despite her profession and political stance on the objectification of women’s bodies, finds herself as insecure as the rest. Following the discovery of her husband’s infidelity, Suzanne embarks on a quest to love herself – muffin top and all – with the support of her friends, including Winokur’s Elise.

In real life, both Winokur and Michon have successfully achieved loving their muffin tops. “I love my muffin top because it’s like a photo stream of all my happiest memories,” Michon, who co-wrote, directed and starred in Muffin Top: A Love Story, told uInterview exclusively. “‘Oh my God, we were so happy and we got ice cream. Oh look, it’s right here!’ ‘Remember when your baby was born and we ate that whole cake! It’s right here!’ So, it’s like a photo stream of my happy.”

As for Winokur, in addition to her muffin top reminding her of her age, it also gives her the opportunity to put her pricey underwear on display.

“I love my muffin top because it reminds me that I’m forty and I need to pull up my jeans and get jeans that aren’t so low riding,” Winokur told uInterview. “I also love my muffin top because it shows my beautiful underwear. When I bend over you can see really cute undies, I spend lots of my money on my underwear so I’m really glad you can see my underwear. That’s why I love my muffin top!”
