Man Who Caused Treat Williams’ Fatal Crash Charged With ‘Grossly Negligent Driving’
Ryan M. Koss has been charged with grossly negligent driving after he caused the crash that killed Treat Williams.
Williams died on June 12 when his motorcycle crashed after Koss cut him off. Koss was making a turn in his Honda Element SUV and didn’t see Williams, causing him to hit his motorcycle and Williams to be thrown off. When he landed, he sustained fatal injuries, and despite their efforts, doctors were unable to revive him.
Officers located the identity of the driver and arrested Koss on Tuesday evening. His court date for arraignment is set for September 25 in Bennington, Vermont.
The Vermont State Police released a statement that announced the news: “A southbound 2008 Honda Element driven by Ryan M. Koss, 35, of Pownal, Vermont, attempted to turn left into a parking lot. Initial investigation indicates the Element stopped, signaled a left turn, and then turned into the path of a northbound 1986 Honda VT700c motorcycle operated by Williams. Williams was unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle. He suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead.”

William’s daughter, Ellie Williams, paid tribute to the actor on the one-month anniversary of his death. In a series of photos, Ellie shared pictures of her as a young child with her late father. The two can be seen laughing and smiling together. She added a heartfelt sentiment to her dad writing, “This love is a once-in-a-lifetime love. A father’s incomprehensible love for his daughter, and a daughter’s boundless love and complete admiration for her father. Dad, I love you more than words could ever describe.”
