Authorities have arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of hacking into Madonna’s computer and leaking unfinished tracks off her upcoming album.

Madonna Hacker Arrested By Israeli Police

In December, 27 Madonna songs from her new album, Rebel Heart, leaked online, infuriating the singer. “I have been violated as a human and an artist,” Madonna said at the time of the leak.

The suspect was arrested in Israel, and though his name has not been released, it is confirmed that he is a former contestant on an Israeli singing competition. The suspect is also believed to have hacked into other pop stars’ computers.

Madonna publicly thanked the FBI and the Israeli Police for their work in apprehending the alleged hacker with a note on Facebook. “I am profoundly grateful to the FBI, the Israeli Police investigators and anyone else who helped lead to the arrest of this hacker. I deeply appreciate my fans who have provided us with pertinent information and continue to do so regarding leaks of my music,” Madonna wrote.

Madonna appears to be extremely shaken up by the entire ordeal, adding, “Like any citizen, I have the right to privacy. This invasion into my life – creatively, professionally, and personally remains a deeply devastating and hurtful experience, as it must be for all artists who are victims of this type of crime.”
