Barack Obama‘s half-brother, Malik Obama, plans to vote for real estate mogul and reality TV star-turned-politician Donald Trump for president over Hillary Clinton.
Malik, who is currently in Kogelo in western Kenya – his and the president’s ancestral home, believes that Trump’s positions have value. Malik, like many Trump fans, thinks that he is “telling it like it is” and appreciates that he’s dismissive of political correctness.
“He appeals to me and also I think that he is down to earth and he speaks from the heart and he is not trying to be politically correct. He’s just straight-forward,” Malik, who is registered to vote in Maryland, told a reporter.
Malik added to the New York Post, “I like Donald Trump because he speaks from the heart. Make America Great Again is a great slogan. I would like to meet him.”
In addition to liking Trump, Malik is also motivated by his “deep disappointment” with his brother’s time in the White House. He takes issue with both Obama and Clinton for having Libyan leader Moammar Khadafy killed, as he considered him a close friend.
“I still feel that getting rid of Khadafy didn’t make things any better in Libya,” he told the Post. “My brother and the secretary of state disappointed me in that regard.”
Malik is also not a fan of the Democrats’ platform as it pertains to social issues, particularly marriage equality.
“I feel like a Republican now because they don’t stand for same-sex marriage,” said Malik, who has at least three wives at present. “And that appeals to me.”
