Macaulay Culkin’s pizza-themed parody rock band The Pizza Underground was booed offstage during a concert in England on Sunday.

The Pizza Underground was performing as part of the Dot to Dot Festival in Nottingham, England, when they were forced to stop their set after only three songs due to the audience’s loud and violent disapproval.

Audience Throws Beer Bottles At Macaulay Culkin

The Pizza Underground was only able to complete one song before the booing began. Reports say that Culkin and his band mates first attempted to carry on playing, but they were again interrupted when particularly angry audience members decided to throw their beer bottles at the band.

“Why are you throwing those? I’d rather drink them,” Culkin said, remaining unshaken.

The band played one more song, and security guards went into the audience to remove the concertgoers who had thrown the beer bottles, but it was too late. Other members in the audience began throwing their bottles at the stage, hitting Culkin and another member of the band.

“That’s the end of the show. Goodnight,” Culkin said after he was hit.

The band packed up and left the stage.

Security guards reportedly kicked out at least five perpetrators, but most of the audience was simply surprised.

“I feel sorry for him [Culkin]. I mean, the music did sound terrible, but it isn’t very fair to be hit with so much beer and booed, is it?” said Jess, an audience member.

Frankie Buttons, a blogger who claims to have been present at the concert took to her blog, Princess Internet, to defend the band, insisting that the crowd never booed The Pizza Underground. Instead, the audience was booing the rowdy few who were throwing their drinks and glasses at the stage.

The Pizza Underground took to Twitter after the incident, thanking the Dot to Dot festival and apologizing to audience members who had their concert cut short.
