The Pizza Underground, which formed in 2012, recently released a demo mash-up of a number of their songs. Recorded Nov. 11, 2013 at Culkin’s home, it includes snippets of “Papa John Says,” “I’m Beginning to Eat the Slice,” and “I’m Waiting for Delivery Man.” The tracks are modified versions of The Velvet Underground songs “Stephanie Says,” “Beginning to See the Light,” and “I’m Waiting for the Man,” respectively.
Culkin is listed in the credits as being on percussion, kazoo and vocals. In addition to Culkin, The Pizza Underground, is made up of Matt Colbourn, anti-folk singer-songwriter Phoebe Kreutz, Deenah Vollmer and Austin Kilham.
The Pizza Underground has a Tumblr, Twitter and Bandcamp page, on which they update their fans on their progress, and from where they sell their original merchandise – including pizza t-shirts. They also have a side musical project called L.A. boobs, which played at the Sidewalk Café Sunday night.
