Lori Loughlin’s Daughter Olivia Jade Giannulli Opens Up About College Admissions Scandal That Sent Mom To Prison

“We messed up,” said the 21-year-old social media star.

On Tuesday, Olivia Jade Giannulli appeared on Red Table Talk and opened up about the college admissions scandal that rocked her family and Hollywood in early 2019.

The star’s mother, Full House star Lori Loughlin, is currently serving out a federal prison sentence of two-months for conspiracy to commit mail fraud and to obtain admission for Olivia and her sister, Isabella Rose Giannulli, into the University of Southern California through bribery. The star’s father, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, is serving out five months for the same crime.

Olivia explained to the Red Table Talk hosts Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris what the whole ordeal was like.

“I think this has been a really eye-opening experience for me,” she said. “And although there’s a lot of negativity around it, and there’s a lot of mistakes and wrongdoings, it’s led me to have a completely different outlook on a lot of situations.”

She also made it clear that she doesn’t condone what her parents did, saying, “There is no justifying or excusing what happened because what happened is wrong.” Olivia revealed that she hasn’t spoken to either of her parents since they started serving their sentences.

Now, the social media star simply wants to move on, having grown to acknowledge her privilege and having learned from the mistakes made. “I don’t want pity. I don’t deserve pity,” she said. “We messed up. I just want a second chance to say I recognize I messed up. For so long, I wasn’t able to talk about this because of the legalities behind it. I never got to say I’m sorry that this all happened.”
