Lil Wayne was hospitalized for the second time last week on Friday after suffering a series of seizures, igniting rumors that the 30-year-old rapper was near death. Although he’s assured fans he’s OK, he remains in intensive care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to TMZ.

“I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love,” read Lil Wayne’s reassuring tweet that was retweeted 100,000 times in under 45 minutes.

The rapper's tweet joined those from members of his camp that sought to refute the rumors that he was dying. “Wayne is alive and well! We watching the Syracuse game … thanks for the prayers and concern..he will update you all soon. #love,” Cash Money president Mack Maine tweeted in an attempt to clear the air. “We will be releasing an official statement shortly but dont believe the nonsense about comas and tubes to breathe … that’s false!!” added Maine in another tweet.

Lil Wayne was alleged to have been on life support and in a medically induced coma by TMZ. It was also reported that he had had his stomach pumped three times in an attempt to rid his system of toxic substances – most likely including codeine.

“They’ve done the tests, and they did tests last year,” a source close to the rapper told The Daily Beast. “They even gave him seizure medicine last year that was supposed to help. It did for a while, but I’m not sure how much Wayne takes care of himself when no one is around.

“He’s tried to quit," the source added referring to Lil Wayne's addiction to "sizzurp" – cough syrup with codeine. "I’m pretty sure he wants to quit. But he would have to go away and get help for that, which he isn’t ready to do. I’d like to think this would scare him into to stopping, but it’s not that simple. I think quitting cold would kill him for sure. He needs rehab, but I’m not sure who can talk him into that. Maybe all this talk will get him to think twice.”

During his continued stay at Cedars-Sinai, Wayne has received visits from music’s Birdman, Nicki Minaj and Drake, as well as Los Angeles Clippers star Chris Paul and his wife.
