The Little Marketplace aims to empower artisans around the world by increasing their products’ distribution and supporting sustainable income opportunities. Conrad and Skvarla started the nonprofit fair trade shop after they visited Tanzania and Uganda in 2012 and met women who were making beautiful products but lacked the resources and access to sell and promote their products. They combined Conrad’s fashion and design expertise and Skvarla’s experience with human rights advocacy and started the organization.
They believe that every person has a right to dignified, safe jobs and fair, living wages, and so they ethically source from artisan groups and social enterprises in communities including refugees, people with disabilities, young mothers, survivors of sex trafficking and individuals living in extreme poverty.
The Little Marketplace’s Instagram shows a variety of products from baskets to towels, quilts, bags and plates and other things made by artisans.
