Lamar Odom, the NBA star married to Khloe Kardasian, is reportedly suffering from substance abuse and addiction.
Odom, 33, has been battling his drug problem for the last two years, reported RadarOnline.com. Last August, members of his wife’s family apparently got the professional basketball player to enter into a rehab facility to curb his addictions. After three weeks, Odom was released and began his season with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Following the season, Odom reportedly resumed using his alleged drug of choice – OxyContin. The prescription pain killer, sold in tablet form, is a form of morphine that has effects roughly twice as strong. On Wednesday, the Kardashian clan staged another intervention, according to RadarOnline’s report.
“Lamar has lost a ton of weight in the last few months which triggered a lot of the concern amongst the family,” one source told the website. “Lamar does not want to go to rehab because pre-season training camps are just around the corner.”
“He just doesn’t care about anyone or anything right now,” the insider added. “He has had it with the Kardashians and just wants to be left alone. Everyone is very, very, worried about him.”
Earlier this summer, Odom appeared on Keeping Up the the Kardashian’s giving his brother-in-law Rob Kardashian advice about dealing with personal battles, suggesting that Rob deal with his issues head-on if he didn’t want his relationships to suffer as a result.
“Being depressed is not being wrong, cause that s—t happens,” Odom told him. “If you don’t take care of yourself you hurt your relationships no matter what."
Odom, a two-time championship sixth man, has been offered a contract for the upcoming season by the Clippers. They would take him on as a veteran, offering him the NBA’s minimum pay of $1.4 million.
