Kristen Stewart Confirms Relationship With Alicia Cargile: ‘I’m Just Really In Love With My Girlfriend’

Kristen Stewart has finally confirmed that Alicia Cargile is her girlfriend.

For years, Stewart and Cargile have been frequently pictured together, sparking rumors that the two were dating. In interviews, Stewart has mostly avoided questions pertaining to her sexuality, and has been vague about her relationship status. However, Stewart has recently decided to go public about her on-and-off girlfriend in an interview with Elle U.K.

Talking about how she’s adopted a more positive outlook and has better control over her anxiety, Stewart said, “I think also right now I’m just really in love with my girlfriend. We’ve broken up a couple of times and gotten back together, and this time I was like, ‘Finally, I can feel again.'”

Stewart went on to explain that she realized that by not being public with this relationship, it could give the false impression that she was in some way ashamed of it.

“When I was dating a guy I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialized, so I didn’t like it,” Stewart said. “When I started dating a girl. I was like, ‘Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I’m not down with it or I’m ashamed of it,’ so I had to alter how I approached being in public. It opened my life up and I’m so much happier.”

Though this marks the first time that Stewart has explicitly discussed Cargile and their relationship, her mother was quoted confirming that they were a couple last June. “I feel like people need to be free to love whoever they want. I accept my daughter loves women and men,” Jules Stewart had reportedly told the Sunday Mirror. She had supposedly added of Cargile, “I’ve met Kristen’s new girlfriend, I like her. What’s not to accept? She’s a lovely girl.”

Stewart has apparently been dating Cargile, who works as a visual effects producer in Los Angeles, off and on for the last couple of years. Earlier this year, during one of the pair’s off periods, Stewart had a fling with French singer and actress Soko.
