Kourtney Kardashian is showing her resilience after undergoing emergency fetal surgery to save her pregnancy.
On September 6, Kardashian’s husband Travis Barker, drummer for pop-rock band Blink-182, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the 44-year-old mogul underwent an emergency fetal surgery. Such surgeries done to address abnormalities or life-threatening disorders always carry a risk for both the woman and the unborn child.
Fans were relieved when the reality star made a post a photo on Instagram, dressed in leather and black lace, with the caption, “Pregnancy is so empowering.”
While many fans of the reality star were supportive of Kardashian’s statement, others were not so enthusiastic. Many people commented that her portrayal didn’t do the pregnancy experience justice.
One person commented, “You spelled exhausting wrong 😂.”
Kardashian’s post came one week after her urgent surgery. Barker was in Europe at the time but rushed home to support his wife. He later reached out to fans with the update that the surgery had gone well, concluding with “God is great.” He also assured fans that Blink-182’s tour, currently on hold for Barker’s family emergency, will resume on Friday. He thanked everyone for their support.
Although Kardashian and Barker haven’t revealed the reason behind the surgery, they have been very open about their emotional experience.
In a black-and-white Instagram post of her and Barker holding hands, Kardashian shared, “As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear.”
Kardashian noted that through this experience, she had gained an entirely new respect for those who have dealt with problems during pregnancy.
Kardashian and Barker’s pregnancy was a surprise announcement on June 16 at one of Barker’s shows in L.A. when Kardashian held up a sign that read, “Travis, I’m pregnant!” On June 24, the couple posted their gender reveal with a burst of blue streamers.
Kardashian and Barker have not publicized the baby’s birth date, but sources report that the child is expected sometime between October and December.
