Kimberly Guilfoyle Faces Backlash Over Children’s Book After Kristi Noem’s Dog Killing Story

Kimberly Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of Donald Trump Jr., announced the upcoming release of her children’s book, The Princess and Her Pup, but faced immediate backlash on social media given the recent controversy over South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) and killing her family’s pet dog years ago.

Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host, promoted the book as a “heartfelt story that teaches children that it’s easier to be courageous with a friend by your side.” She said proceeds would help abused and abandoned dogs and cats.

However, given Noem’s dog drama in the last month, the timing couldn’t have been worse. Excerpts from the Republican governor’s upcoming memoir revealed she once shot and killed her 14-month-old wirehaired pointer for being “less than worthless” as a hunting dog when she was younger. Noem also admitted to shooting a smelly goat at the same gravel pit.

Noem attempted to defend the killings as an example of her ability to make hard choices. Still, the revelation drew criticism from both liberals and conservatives concerned about the ethics around shooting a family pet.

She later said she had no regrets about killing her puppy and then writing about it.

Many outraged social media users piled on Guilfoyle’s book announcement, drawing comparisons to Noem’s actions and questioning the sincerity behind a children’s book purporting to celebrate the human-dog bond.

“Great timing after we learned about Kristi Noem killing her dog,” one commenter wrote.

“Does the story end with the princess shooting her pup for being a bad hunting dog?” another asked.

A third asked, “Does the princess shoot the pup at the end for not being courageous enough?”

Guilfoyle has yet to respond to the backlash. A release date for The Princess and Her Pup has not been announced.

Fans recently begged Guilfoyle to stop with cosmetic procedures after recent photos she posted to social media.
