Khloé Kardashian has taken steps to halt her divorce from Lamar Odom as he continues to recover from an apparent accidental overdose.
Kardashian’s attorney Laura Wasser petitioned a judge to withdraw her client’s divorce papers before they could be processed, reported TMZ. The document presented in court was signed by Odom and Wasserman on Kardashian’s behalf. The judge granted Wasser’s request, thereby putting a stop to the couple’s divorce.
After a protracted estrangement, both Kardashian and Odom had signed their divorce papers. However, since a judge had yet to sign off on them, the couple has remained technically married.
Kardashian filed for divorce in December 2013 after Odom made multiple headlines for alleged infidelities and drug use. It is said that the reality TV star attempted to get Odom into rehab and to save their marriage, but her efforts had been futile.
When Odom was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel and subsequently taken to Las Vegas for life-saving treatment last week, Kardashian rushed to be at his side. Since she is his legal wife, she was tasked with making medical decisions on his behalf as he fought for his life.
Earlier this week, Odom was transferred to a Los Angeles rehabilitation facility, where he will continue his recovery.
