Kevin Spacey Faces New Sexual Assault Charges In London

Kevin Spacey, who was just cleared by a New York jury of his sexual assault lawsuit filed by Anthony Rapp, is facing more prosecution in England after the U.K. Crown Prosecution Service announced charges for seven sexual assault offenses allegedly against the same male victim.

Spacey also faces multiple charges of sexual assault and harassment of men he encountered while serving as artistic director of the Old Vic Theater. He pleaded not guilty to these charges and will stand trial for them in June of next year.

In a press release, the CPS clarified that the charges stem from incidents that happened in London from 2001 to 2004 and also listed the charges.

These include three counts of Indecent Assault, which is the U.K.’s terminology for non-consensual sexual touching that doesn’t include sexual intercourse. Spacey has also been charged with three counts of Sexual Assault, and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

The charges were announced on Wednesday, and neither the actor nor his representatives have responded to him yet. It’s unclear whether he’ll have a separate trial for these charges or if they’ll be folded into the upcoming proceedings in June.

Through the lawsuit trial with Rapp, who alleged that Spacey touched him inappropriately when he was 14, Spacey won out but told some bizarre stories on the stand as well. He spoke about his “Nazi father” that prevented him from coming out at a younger age, only doing so only directly after he was first accused by Rapp of sexual assault.

He was also notably fired from House of Cards for allegedly sexually assaulting a crew member, causing rewrites on the show that repositioned Robin Wright as the sole lead. He was also ordered to pay $31 million to the show’s producers for violating the show’s harassment policy and damaging the show’s reputation and profits in its latter seasons.
