Kevin Hart took some time to take pictures with fans who were gathered outside the premiere of his new movie Get Hard at the SXSW festival Monday.

Kevin Hart At ‘Get Hard’ Premiere

Hart, 35, was happy to pose with fans outside of the theater in Austin, Texas, even taking hold of the phone to get everyone into the selfie. The comedy star looked sporty for the premiere in a black varsity bomber jacket and shades.

Prior to the premiere, Hart and his Get Hard costar Will Ferrell tried to get the crowd alive, bringing out a boombox and hosting an impromptu dance party. “If you don’t like it, I want you to go out in the street and kill yourself,” Hart quipped from the stage. In all seriousness, he asked fans to give him honest feedback through social media.

Premiering to the SXSW crowd, Get Hard is getting mixed reviews. Though Hart and Ferrell’s comedic chops are indisputable, some critics think that they could have benefitted from some smarter material. Pushing the comedy envelope, the film is accused going too far when it comes to matters of race and sexuality. When pressed on those concerns in the post-premiere Q&A, writer Etan Cohan admitted it was hard to find the right comedic note.

“The truth was that was a really delicate balance. … It was really hard thing to modulate because we really wanted to make a statement about this stuff,” Cohan told the crowd. “We wanted to think about this stuff and think about the stereotypes but not go too far where comedy doesn’t deserve to go.”

While Hart’s film might be getting a roasting in the form of reviews, the comedian got to lead the roasting of Justin Bieber for Comedy Central Saturday. Asked about it on Jimmy Kimmel Live after the Get Hard premiere, Hart told Jimmy Kimmel, “There were some moments where I was like, ‘Justin’s gonna cry in the car. There’s no way he’s not gonna cry,'” though he added that the singer was a good sport about it.

Get Hard hits theaters March 27.
