Kelly Clarkson covered Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” in concert on Saturday night, slowing down Swift’s pop hit and adding a few high notes to put her own spin on it.

Clarkson, who is currently touring North America, performed her stunning take on “Blank Space” in front of a sold-out crowd at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on Saturday. The original American Idol gave the song a little more vocal range, adding in runs and high notes as only Clarson can.

Taylor Swift herself saw video of Clarkson covering “Blank Space” and posted it on Twitter, causing the cover to go even more viral. “Kelly Clarkson covered Blank Space and YES,” she wrote.

Clarkson responded to Swift’s tweet, saying she loves to cover Swift’s music and hopes to sing one of Swift’s non-single tracks, “Clean.”

Last year, Clarkson’s gospel cover of Swift’s “Shake It Off” also went viral and similarly earned a Twitter seal of approval from Swift.

On tour, Clarkson will take audience requests for potential cover performances ahead of time. This time it was “Blank Space,” but in the last few weeks, Clarkson’s fan-requested covers of Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” and ‘N Sync’s “Bye Bye Bye” have also gone viral.
