A report commissioned by Rover, the pet-sitting website, showed that “Kelce” is the top-trending dog name in America, with a current increase of 135%.

They believed that the Kelce brothers, Travis and Jason, were the likely inspiration for this increase.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end won his second Super Bowl back in February. He also experienced a massive increase in his social media following after Taylor Swift attended his team’s third-week game against the Chicago Bears.

He played against his brother in the Super Bowl and released a documentary about his career this September.

This two-time Super Bowl winner even managed to be a finalist for People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” list.

His brother, on the other hand, was the top choice for this magazine’s “Sexiest Men in Sports” list.

Even the two NBA stars, Nikola Jokic and Trae Young, were also listed among the top-trending dog names, with Young up by 222% and Jokic going up 147%.

The name “Celtic” had risen to 364%, most likely after the Boston Celtics.

As for CeeDee Lamb, the use of his last name went up 109%. The use of Justin Fields‘ surname had gone up 97%.

Sometime after its 2023 World Cup run, the players for the United States Women’s National Team were among the top trending dog names.

Defender Crystal Dunn‘s last name is up 147%, while Megan Rapinoe‘s first name is up 33%.

The WNBA star, Breanna Stewart, also known as “Stewie,” has her nickname increasing 81%, with owners spelling it “Stewy.” As for Brittney Griner, there was a 47% increase in the use of her first name and her last name also made it on the list.

There was also an increase in sports-related cat names. Avalanche, originating from the Colorado Avalanche, went up 426%, while Gronk, after Rob Gronkowski, has gone up 218%, winning places among 2023’s top sports-inspired cat names.

Names coming from Kyrie Irving, Lamar Jackson and Marcell Ozuna tied together at 193%.

Pet name trends are influenced by significant sports figures in certain regions. For instance, in Birmingham, Alabama, the last name of Nick Saban, the coach of Alabama Crimson Tide, is up 126%.
