Kathy Griffin has been hired to fill the shoes of the late Joan Rivers on E!’s Fashion Police.

Kathy Griffin Joining Fashion Police

Griffin and E! announced her role on Fashion Police in a statement Monday.

“I get it! These are some big shoes I’m going to fill. Joan was truly one of a kind,” Griffin said. “Now I hope you will accept me for me. I’m just Kathy. Did I say I’m just Kathy? I meant I’m Kathy F—ing Griffin and you celebrities better strap yourself in, as I am taking no prisoners. I am not holding back so DAMMIT let’s have some fun!”

Jeff Olde, E! executive vice president, programming and development, added, “Not only was Joan a trailblazer, she was also a dear friend and mentor to Kathy, who will no doubt continue her legacy and do the series justice by bringing her own unique comedic style and tell-it-like-it-is personality to the host chair.”

Back in October, Griffin admitted that she was in talks with E! “I want to do a great job if I do it, obviously,” Griffin told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “I can tell you that I hope they continue the tradition of my good friend and have someone lead the show with a fearless brand of comedy.”

Earlier this month, Griffin suggested that E! had already offered her the gig, but that she had yet to decide whether or not she would be taking the network up on the offer. “They did offer it to me,” Griffin told Access Hollywood. “I don’t know if the situation is correct at this time for me or right for me at this time.”

In other Fashion Police news, TV personality and celebrity stylist Brad Goreski is replacing George Kotsiopoulos. Co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne are both set to return.

Fashion Police will return with Golden Globes coverage on Jan. 25, 2015.
