Kathy Griffin Comedy Tour Shows Canceled Following Trump Decapitated-Head Photo Shoot
Kathy Griffin is facing the consequences of her celebrity photo shoot holding the fake bloody decapitated head of Donald Trump.
KATHY GRIFFIN COMEDY TOUR SHOWS CANCELED
Griffin is currently on her Celebrity Run-In Tour, but various shows have been canceled in the aftermath of her photo. In total, five venues have canceled Griffin’s booking – her two California shows on June 16 and Oct. 13, her July 22 Albuquerque show, her Nov. 2 show on Staten Island, and her show in New Brunswick, N.J., on Nov. 3.
These cancelations are the latest blows to Griffin’s career and public image, after being fired from CNN as their annual New Year’s Eve show co-host. She has hosted with Anderson Cooper for nearly a decade.
Trump and Melania Trump both responded to the disturbing image, the president in a tweet and the first lady in a rare statement. “Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself,” he tweeted. “My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!”
Melania, for her part, released a statement questioning the mental health of the comic for her actions. “As a mother, a wife, and a human being, that photo is very disturbing,” she said. “When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it.”
Griffin posted a video to her Twitter feed apologizing for the stunt, admitting that she had gone “too far.”
