Katherine Heigl’s ‘State Of Affairs’ Canceled
State of Affairs, the espionage drama starring Katherine Heigl, has been canceled after one season.
State of Affairs Canceled
NBC decided to cancel the Heigl vehicle due to the show’s poor ratings. Though State of Affairs had started off relatively strong, its viewership consistently fell throughout its run. The show could not even be saved by having popular singing competition show The Voice as its lead-in on Monday nights.
When Heigl left Grey’s Anatomy in 2010, she was in pursuit of a major film career, starring in such hits as Knocked Up and 27 Dresses. After a few misses at the box office, Heigl seemed poised to launch a career comeback with her return to TV on State of Affairs. Although her name recognition certainly helped to get the show off the ground, it wasn’t enough to sustain it.
Heigl addressed the cancellation on Twitter, but seemed optimistic that the show could get a second life on another network or streaming service.
Heigl will next be seen in the romantic comedy Jenny’s Wedding, which will be out later this year.
