Kate Winslet & Lookalike Daughter, Mia Threapleton, Wowed The Bafta Red Carpet

Mother-daughter acting duo Kate Winslet and Mia Threapleton made a rare red carpet appearance together at the 2023 BAFTA Television Awards in London, where they posed together in chic sleek black outfits.  

The Academy Award-winning actress and her eldest daughter looked nearly identical with their matching hair updos, smoky eyeshadow, drop earrings and pointed-toe heels. Winslet opted for a symmetrical black dress while Threapleton wore a black-and-ivory halter jumpsuit.

They both had a lot to celebrate as Winslet went on to win the award for Best Leading Actress for her role in I Am Ruth, in which Threapleton also costars. “If I could break it in half, I would give the other half to my daughter Mia Threapleton,” Winslet said while accepting her award. “We did this together, kiddo.”

Winslet had recently commented on what it was like working with Mia.

“As far as performance, she didn’t need me at all. There are even moments where she’d look at me and go, ‘Shut up Mum, let me do it! It was really amazing working alongside her and actually being blown away by her courage… she’s very, very powerful,” during an interview on BBC One.

She had also previously dismissed “nepo baby” claims, explaining that her daughter’s different surname allowed her to slip “under the radar” in her acting career because “the people who cast her didn’t know she was my daughter and that was important for her self-esteem, of course.”
