Kate Upton and Tony Hale star in Lady Antebellum’s new music video for “Bartender.”

Kate Upton And Tony Hale Star In “Bartender” Video

Upton appears in the video as a girl just looking to relax with her friends, while Hale plays the bartender that serves her drink after drink. Throughout the video, Veep and Arrested Development star Hale gets crazier and crazier with his elaborate bartending tricks while model Upton drinks her night away.

The music video premiered exclusively on Today‘s Thursday, June 19, episode, and certainly succeeded in surprising fans with its odd couple pairing.

“I’ve always appreciated music videos that take a little bit of a different approach than what you’d first guess the video would be like,” said Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum.

Lady Antebellum’s Favorite Music Video Yet

On Twitter, the country band called the video “our hands-down favorite,” something Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley attributes to Hale’s comedic talents.

“Tony totally owns the spotlight in this video. He is hilarious and is a big part of why I think this is my favorite video we’ve ever done,” Kelley told People.

Hillary Scott was equally as happy about her band’s newest co-stars, saying, “We had such a blast making this video. Kate and Tony were both really fun to work with and added an extra dimension – and laughs – to the shoot!”

“Bartender” is the first single off Lady Antebellum’s fifth studio album and Scott says she hopes the song will be somewhat of a breakup anthem for girls.

“I love this song because there’s something empowering about not going for the rebound or just moping around over a guy. There are those times in your life when you need to feel sorry for yourself and be sad, but this song is all about hitting the dance floor with your girlfriends and just forgetting him,” Scott said.
