Orange Is the New Black actress Kate Mulgrew claimed in a recent interview that she was born with teeth.
Kate Mulgrew’s New Born Teeth
Mulgrew, while promoting the fourth season of the hit Netflix series, made an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine. Towards the end of the interview, however, the discussion turned towards Mulgrew’s new memoir, aptly titled Born With Teeth.
“They were pearlescent, blue,” she explained. “They’re very dangerous because the baby can swallow them.”
The natal teeth were not the only notable thing about Mulgrew’s childhood that she discussed on Lorraine. She also informed the host that she was unable to feel pain as a toddler, and, as a result was kept in a cage.
“They built me a little cage, because I had no sense of pain until I was four years old. So I was born with teeth and had no sense of pain,” she said. “Shakespeare would have had a field day. It’s a witch! That’s what a witch is.”
On Orange Is The New Black, Mulgrew plays prison veteran Galina “Red” Reznikov, who prides herself on being the resident chef. Before starring on the prison dramedy, Mulgrew was best known for playing Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager.
Orange Is The New Black‘s fourth season premieres on Netflix June 17.
