Lottie Moss, half-sister of supermodel Kate Moss, has opened up about the strain her career choices have placed on her family relationships. The 26-year-old model and content creator discussed the fallout on her new podcast, Dream On with Lottie Moss.
Moss grew up in West Sussex, England, and moved to Los Angeles in 2021. She then began creating content for the adult subscription website OnlyFans. This decision, she says, led to a significant rift with her family and friends back home.
“When I returned to the U.K., I lost many friends in the modeling industry,” Moss said. “My mother didn’t speak to me for weeks, and my family was in turmoil over it.”
The young model noted a stark contrast between the reception of her career choice in Los Angeles and London. She found that OnlyFans creators and adult entertainers were more readily accepted in L.A., while her return to London was met with concern from friends who feared she was experiencing a “mental breakdown.”
Moss, who attended the private Bede’s school, also addressed the challenges of living in the shadow of her famous half-sister. Despite early success, including modeling for Teen Vogue at 16 and appearing in a Calvin Klein campaign, Lottie felt constrained by expectations to follow Kate’s path.
“For years, I was told who I was supposed to be — Kate Moss’s sister, part two. But that wasn’t me,” she explained.
Contrary to speculation, Moss insists her transition to OnlyFans was not born out of desperation but rather a desire for creative freedom and body positivity. She expressed greater job satisfaction as a “content creator” compared to her traditional modeling work.
The podcast also touched on Lottie’s complicated relationship with Kate, who is 24 years her senior. Despite sharing a father, Lottie revealed they were never close, even during her childhood.
“We would see each other at Christmas and play family a little bit,” Lottie said, adding that she had “never really known” her famous sibling.
Addressing misconceptions about her background, Lottie emphasized that Kate’s wealth and fame did not extend to her immediate family. She expressed frustration with the “nepo baby” label.
