ROYAL FAMILY HOLDS MINUTE OF SILENCE FOR TRAGEDY VICTIMS

Temperatures were so high at the racing event that members were allowed to remove their jackets for the first time in the event’s history. Kate Middleton wore a white lace Alexander McQueen dress with a bespoked hat to match.

The events being mourned were the recent Grenfell Tower fire and the London and Manchester terror attacks. The family, led by the Queen and Prince Philip, bowed their heads in silence for the victims and their families. An announcement said it was a “mark of respect for the victims and families so tragically affected by recent events in the United Kingdom.”

“We have all been deeply saddened by recent tragic events around the country,” said Ascot Racecourse chairman Johnny Weatherby. “At the beginning of this important week for racing, we at Ascot Racecourse wish to pay our respects to the victims and offer support to the families who have been so terribly affected.”

In addition, the Queen released a statement on her birthday last week, traditionally celebrated a Trooping the Colour ceremony. “This year it is difficult to escape a very sombre national mood,” it read. “As a nation, we continue to reflect and pray for all those who have been directly affected by these events.”
