The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, had abdominal surgery and is expected not to return to royal duties until Easter.
Following a surgery that she had requested be kept private, Middleton was released from the hospital after 13 days so that she could continue her recovery at home among family. She and her husband, Prince William, along with their three children, are together at their home in Windsor.
The Kensington Palace released a statement saying, “The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.” They then addressed the medical team by saying, “The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.”
The palace also commented that the surgery was planned and that the Princess is doing much better in recovery.
“The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” Kensington Palace stated. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.“
The last public appearance that Middleton made was at Christmas, but friends and family say that she is expected to “bounce back” given her positive nature.
