The sixth and final season of The Crown is currently filming in St Andrews and will feature Prince William (Ed McVey) and Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy) as young adults.

The real-life couple met while studying at the University of St. Andrews in 2001. They eventually married in 2011 and have three children.

Current college students at St. Andrew’s are getting a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes set.

TikTok user shark_bateman posted a video of Kate’s character holding hands with a man. The pair walk past Prince William’s character, who then turns around to run after them.

The show has also reportedly filmed a scene where Prince William’s character sits on a curb and watches Kate’s character walk past while carrying a notebook. Another sees Kate’s character inside a pizza restaurant.

Bellamy earned the role after responding to a casting call on social media and auditioning for the casting directors. McVey graduated from Drama Centre London in 2021 and had experience in theater before getting the job.

There has been speculation that season six of the series will center around events that occurred in the late ’90s and early ’00s, including Princess Diana‘s death in August 1997.

Prince William and Princess Kate have not openly discussed the exact moment they met. However, Prince William said in the pair’s engagement interview in 2010 that they were just friends for over a year before they became a couple.
