Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel hashed out their issues on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night, setting the record straight about their feud that began with a skit that aired on the show.

West was infuriated when Kimmel appeared to poke fun at an earnest interview he gave to the BBC. The hip-hop star took to Twitter, posting a number of tweets directed at Kimmel. While West didn’t apologize for what he wrote on social media, after making sure the audience knew he’s never done anything for the sake of publicity, he let Kimmel explain about the skit that appeared on his show last month.

Kimmel admitted that he hadn’t watched West’s full BBC interview, and that he hadn’t thought his comic recreation was going to pique him. He further stated that he’s used children to repeat celebrity quotes multiple times. Kimmel then went on to tell Kanye that his rants do work to alienate people and ultimately make him fodder for tabloid gossip.

"I'm not running for office," West told Kimmel. "I'm just here to make good music and make people feel good when they hear my music. When I did that interview, I was really vocal about a lot of things I had been dealing with over the last ten years, when I had been put in the classification as just a celebrity."

"I'm a creative genius, and there's no other way to word it,” West added. “I know you're not supposed to say that about yourself. I say things the wrong way a lot of times, but the intention is always positive."

West asserted many times that he’s not necessarily concerned about what everyone says about him, and make up about him. But Kimmel’s mockery hit closer to home, since Kanye revealed that the two know one another. Kimmel corroborated West’s claim, even showing a picture of a smiling West with his arm around Kimmel’s father.

Throughout West's time on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he took the opportunity on more than one occasion to expound upon his views regarding fashion, music, civil rights, his family history, Kim Kardashian and the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a host of other issues. The talk show host let his guest take the opportunity to make himself understood once again, and the pair parted with a reconciliatory handshake.
