Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, 24, has promoted a fundraiser entitled, “Supporting urgent relief for Gaza’s children,” on her Instagram account.

The fundraiser has brought in more than $7.8 million so far and is operated by Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund, a nonprofit based in Kent, Ohio.

Emhoff, whose father, First Gentleman Doug Emhoff, is Jewish, has told reporters that she does not consider herself to be Jewish.

Last week, President Joe Biden called for a humanitarian pause to the bombings, in response to a protestor’s interruptions that he should call for a ceasefire. He clarified that a “pause” was meant to be “time to get the prisoners [Israeli hostages] out.”

Biden said, “This is incredibly complicated for the Israelis… It’s incredibly complicated for the Muslim world as well… I supported a two-state solution, I have from the very beginning.’

Biden was also involved in talks to convince Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Egyptian President Abdel Fatah el-Sissi to allow aid into Gaza.

Last month, Biden announced that he would send $100 million in “humanitarian assistance” to the Palestinians. This prompted major backlash from the Republicans who plan to challenge him in the 2024 presidential election.

Former President Donald Trump, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley (R-South Carolina), Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina), Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) and Gov. Doug Burgum (R-North Dakota) have all condemned the move.

The Gaza Health Ministry has reported over 10,000 Palestinians in Gaza have lost their lives, including more than 3,600 Palestinian children.

Over 1,400 Israelis have died, primarily civilians in Hamas’ initial surprise attack. As rocket fire from Gaza into Israel continues, there have been an estimated 250,000 evacuations.

In 2021, Emhoff signed with the IMG modeling agency.
