Who Is Jwan Yosef, Ricky Martin’s New Husband?
Ricky Martin and partner Jwan Yosef have been married, the musician confirmed on Wednesday.
WHO IS JWAN YOSEF?
When asked by E! News if he was a fiancé or a husband, Martin, 46, answered with, “I’m a husband, but we’re doing a heavy party in a couple of months.” He added, “We’ve exchanged vows, and we swear everything, and we signed all the papers that we needed to sign – prenups and everything.” Married life, he says, “feels amazing… I can’t introduce him as my fiancé, he’s my husband. He’s my man.”
The couple made their red carpet debut in April 2016.
When pressed for more details on the party, Martin shared it would be a big celebration. “The typical three-day party – the dinner, the rehearsal, the party, and the recovery.”
Martin told Ellen DeGeneres on her show in 2016 that he had proposed to Yosef. “I was really nervous,” he said of the proposal, “but I got on my knees, and I took out the little metal box. I just had it in a little velvet pouch. And instead of saying, ‘Would you marry me?’ I said, ‘I got you something!’ Bad! And then he was like, ‘Yes?’ I said, ‘I want to spend my life with you,’ and he was like, ‘What is the question?’ ‘Would you marry me?’ That’s it.'” And of course Yosef said yes at the time.
Yosef is a Syrian-Swedish painter who specializes in plastic arts. His Instagram timeline is filled not only with photos of Martin and their two children Valentino and Matteo, 7, but also with images of his artwork. One common style he does is a canvas that looks as if it has melted down onto itself. In his studio, he often shares photos of crosses made of duct tape coming off the walls.
The couple recently opened up their home for a cover story in Architectural Digest magazine.
