Justin Timberlake And Jessica Biel Settle Defamation Suit With British Magazine

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have settled with the British magazine Heat after filing suit in Dublin, Ireland.

Timberlake and Biel both filed defamation suits against Heat and the magazine’s publishers Bauer Consumer Media after the magazine published an article in September claiming that Timberlake was flirting with other women while in Paris in August. The article also featured alleged quotes attributed to Biel.

Heat Apologizes To Justin Timberlake And Jessica Biel

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, barely a week after the suits were filed, Heat appeared in court to apologize with a written statement that was read by the defense.

“On 6th-12th September edition of Heat magazine, the Defendant published an articule under the headlines ‘Justin Timberlake gets flirty with another woman, It is not his wife!’ and ‘The flirty photos that rocked Justin and Jessica’s marriage.’ The article was based on an unfounded report regarding Justin Timberlake’s alleged behavior at a club following a performance in Paris, to celebrate a birthday and also included a number of purported statements improperly attributed to Jessica Biel, which Heat now understands had never been made by her.

“The Defendant accepts that the article was false and withdraws any inferences that questioned the state of Justin and Jessica’s marriage. The Defendant regrets any embarrassment caused to the couple and unreservedly apologizes to them.”

While a settlement was reached in court, the exact nature of that settlement is unknown and no financial settlements have been announced. Paul Tweed, who represented Timberlake and Biel, released a statement saying that his clients were “very satisfied” with the apology they received.

Tweed also warned that Timberlake and Biel would not hesitate to take another tabloid to court “if false allegations regarding the state of their marriage are repeated.”
