Jon Favreau will write and executive produce a live-action Star Wars series.

The president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, said she “couldn’t be more excited” about Favreau writing a producing for their “new direct-to-consumer platform.” She said in a statement, “Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow John the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.”

Favreau isn’t new to the Star Wars universe, he voiced a character in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and has a role in Solo: A Star Wars Story, set to be released May 25, 2018. He’s currently working on a live-action Lion King, set to be released July 19, 2019.

Favreau said in a statement, “If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn’t have believed you. I can’t wait to embark upon this exciting adventure.”

The unnamed streaming service does not have an exact launch date but reports say there could be a debut in 2019. Disney has a pulled a majority of Marvel movies from its steaming competitor Netflix.
