A four-day mediation between divorcing couple Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner began on Wednesday.

The two look to hash out a custody and parenting plan for their daughters Willa, 3, and Delphine, 14 months, and resolve ongoing disputes during their divorce. Turner’s lawyer, Stephen Cullen, claimed in court that Jonas was asking for joint custody.

“The parties are both seeing their children, which is what we all want.” Cullen later confirmed.

The mediation between the two comes after Turner sued Jonas for wrongful retention of their children. Jonas was allegedly withholding their passports to prevent them from returning to England. Turner also claims that Jonas went back on their plans to make the U.K. their “forever home.”

Turner and Jonas have temporarily agreed to keep their children in New York City. They are allowed to travel to Long Island and the Hudson Valley. The interim consent order allowed their kids to be in Eastern and Southern New York.

A January 2 trial date is still set for the divorce. The mediation aims to solve most of the issues between Jonas and Turner.

Celebrity couples turning to mediators isn’t uncommon. When Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen divorced in 2022, they made settlements on property and custody. The divorce was finalized the day they announced their separation.
