Joan Rivers In Critical Condition, Stopped Breathing During Outpatient Throat Surgery
Joan Rivers was rushed to a hospital Thursday morning after she stopped breathing during a throat surgery at a New York City specialized clinic.

Rivers, 81, stopped breathing while she was undergoing surgery on her vocal cords at Yorkville Endoscopy on the Upper East Side, police told the New York Post. At. 9:40 a.m., a 911 call was placed in which the caller said, “We have somebody in either cardiac or respiratory arrest,” reports TMZ.
Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital after she was deemed in critical condition when medical personnel arrived. Melissa Rivers, the comedian’s daughter, is en route to New York to be at her mother’s side.
The E! fashion critic has had a particularly busy last few days. Not only were the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday – offering plenty of fashion to talk about – but the 66th Annual Emmy Awards were held on Monday with a star-studded red carpet.
In addition to her work on E!, Rivers has also been busy promoting her last book, Diary of a Mad Diva.
