Jennifer Lawrence, 34, and her husband Cooke Maroney, 40, are expecting their second child. The couple confirmed the pregnancy in a Vogue Instagram post on Sunday.

“Congratulations are in order for Jennifer Lawrence! The Oscar-winning actor will be welcoming her second child with art gallerist husband Cooke Maroney,” the magazine wrote in the caption of the post, adding that representatives for Lawrence had confirmed the happy news to the outlet.

Since the couple’s wedding in October 2019 at the Belcourt mansion in Newport, Rhode Island, the actress had a two-year-old son, Cy, in February, 2022.

In a June 2023 interview, Lawrence discussed her concerns about paparazzi during her first pregnancy with actress Cameron Diaz, 52.

“I do my best,” Lawrence said in response to Diaz’s question about protecting her son despite the constant public attention. “I was so nervous when I was pregnant. I was getting paparazzi’d, and I was just like, ‘How am I not going to lose it on these guys when they’re taking a picture of my baby?’”

“Then once he was here, I realized that my energy is more important to him than anything else,” Lawrence continued. “So if he feels that I’m anxious before I leave the house, or I’m angry when we’re outside, that’s going to impact him.”

She explained that motherhood helped her relax. “So it’s actually done the opposite, where I’ve gotten a little bit more zen and a little bit more relaxed with getting photographed, because I don’t have a choice. You just have to accept it, and take a deep breath and walk.”

Lawrence also took a moment to praise her husband, calling the 39-year-old art dealer “the greatest father in the entire world.” She explained how his support allows her to focus on work without added pressure.

“When I’m working, I don’t feel any more guilt than the usual, everyday, all-day parent guilt,” she said.

As she and Maroney prepare to welcome their second child, the actress’s approach to her work seems more focused than ever—centered around what matters most. As she put it, “There’s no squeezing in work when you have a baby. It forces you to evaluate everything: ‘Is this worth being away from my child for half the day?’”
