Jennifer Connelly posted a photo with her Top Gun: Maverick co-star Tom Cruise on Instagram ahead of the world premiere of the new film, a follow-up to the 1986 action drama film Top Gun. Connelly captioned the photo “Penny & Pete,” in reference to her new character Penny Benjamin, a love interest for Cruise’s Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.

Connelly spoke glowingly of working with Cruise in several interviews for the film. “The depth and breadth of his involvement, and commitment to what he’s doing, I find extraordinary,” she told Amazing Magazine. “Really remarkable. It manifests in everything I saw him do.”

She also recounted a hilarious story to Graham Norton that she had recently gotten over a fear of flying before joining the Maverick set, and then found out she would be in a stunt scene with Cruise in a small P-51 plane.

“He’s [Cruise] like, ‘Ever done any aerobic flying before?’ I started to get nervous. ‘No, why? Will I be doing some?’ He’s like, ‘It’s gonna be very graceful. Very elegant. Very elegant rolls. It’s going to be nice and easy,'” Connelly recalled with a laugh.

The premiere was held Wednesday night on the U.S.S. Midway, a Navy aircraft carrier that was docked in San Diego, California.

Other cast members appearing in this action-packed reboot are Miles TellerJon HammGlen PowellMonica BarbaroLewis Pullman and Val Kilmer who will be reprising his role as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky.
