Jennifer Aniston has publicly rebuked Ohio Sen. JD Vance over his comments in 2021 about childless political figures. The criticism comes as Vance, recently named the former president’s running mate, faces renewed scrutiny for his past statements.

In an Instagram story posted Wednesday, Aniston expressed disbelief that a vice presidential candidate would insult childless women. She shared a clip of Vance’s 2021 interview on Tucker Carlson’s former Fox News program, where he claimed the United States was being governed by “childless cat ladies.”

During the interview, Vance suggested that political leaders without children, including Vice President Kamala Harris and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, lacked a “direct stake” in the country’s future. He argued that individuals with children are generally happier, healthier and better equipped to lead the nation.

Aniston, who has previously discussed her own fertility challenges, took particular issue with Vance’s stance on reproductive rights. She expressed concern for Vance’s daughter, hoping she would not face difficulties conceiving in the future while criticizing the senator’s efforts to restrict access to fertility treatments like IVF.

The resurfaced interview has sparked controversy as Vance steps into the national spotlight as a vice presidential pick. It highlights the ongoing debate about work-life balance in politics and the diverse family structures of American leaders.

Notably, some of Vance’s claims about childless leaders were inaccurate – Harris has two stepchildren, and Buttigieg has two children as well.
